Realizations.

I just noticed this blog shows up on google searches now. Fascinating. I guess googles bot is the visitor from the states then. I wonder who the german is. :)

I still have a bunch of cold war armor to get to. I hope to have them done this weekend.
Next up are more 25mm GZG for 2300AD and Aurore, mostly armed civilians of various sorts.

This bunch are from ebay. as usual. Three Challenger 1's and a Chieftain ARV thats been modified a bit. I'm not gonna restore it much, this will do for gaming. :)

The workshop is running again!

Have a good one!

I painted something!

I'm gonna call this done. It's a Ninja Magic Kotaku Class Battlecruiser. I love these models, they are very nice. The stands are a bit flimsy though, broke two already but that is par for the course with flight stands I suppose.

I spent a good long time on this, and still it looks alot like a prepaint. Oh well, I like it anyhow.

Still have  destroyer, a pair of frigates and six corvettes to go. I'm glad I got these when I did since the company seems to be on extended hiatus. I wish I got more though. The other major race has really nice ships too. Some stock seems to still be at Rattlehead Games if you are in the US, I wish I was. :P

Gotta post something.

But not any content I suppose. I haven't made anything worth posting pics of so no need.

I've assembled a couple of Ninja Magic starships, cleaned up some Ebob Miniatures medievals and sorted out some 6mm armour, but the last week as mainly been spent painting six 15mm grav AFV's from Ground Zero Games. For some reason it was tedious work and I am not really sure it was even worth the effort.
Oh well, might be done in a couple of days.

28mm tanks

I made these earler but never posted them. They started life as 1/48 scale Marder IFV's made by Kitech. As scale models they are frankly horrible but they are great for kitbashing.

I added 28mm turrets from Old Crow and lots of greeblies from the bits boxes including old GW rhino bits. I bashed one of these up about 7-8 years ago, hence the rhino bits. Making another one looking the same was a challenge but I made it. :)

I went way too heavy with the black wash, so I have to repaint them later. Oh well.

Diversions...

So I was supposed to finish up the bunch of CVR(T)s. Naturally, I ended up painting a bunch of 6mm Sci Fi fortifications. I found these on Ebay in a couple of batches, one of which contained prepainted ones from the manufacturer. I tried to match those but I think I'll just have to repaint those to match mine instead.

I bought these with the intent of representing a cold war hot scenario mensioned in one of the LBB Traveller encyklopedias or some such. There was this world that had a very long cold world war that had stagnated in long heavily fortified borders at TL 7-8 something. I don't know if it is ever going to happen, but who knows? At least the russians are visiting...

------------------------------------ Some time later ------------------------------------------

I hereby proclaim these done. After flocking and some touching up, including repainting the manufacturers bunkers to match mine I'm pretty happy with these. I even like my own better then theirs. Never thought that would happen. :)

Battle taxis galore!

Got these done to my usual 75% state, as usual thinking I'll finish them later. Well, "later" has yet to arrive so it might still happen!

The one nearest the camera, the metal one is my favorite. Much more raised detail. I really wish I knew what make it is. Oh, and it seems the camo netting-thing can be saved. Thats is good since it actually looks quite nice.
Well, in all they wont turn any heads, but at least they turned out passable for the table.

Next up in the repaint department are these members of the CVR(T) family. Although, I am tempted to make a Belgian recce platoon instead. If I can get another Scorpion kit I'll have a complete one since I have a spare Scorpion turret to change over on one of the Scimitars here. I wish I had some readers to ask opinions of... :)

*sniffle*

I've aquired a proper mancold, and I doubt I'll be getting much done in the nearest couple of days... I have a pair of pickup trucks half done on the table, a Marder and the 432's beckoning me, I really want to get them done before the end of the week.

Have a good one, I'll go take some pills now.

Pretty much done with the rescues

Well then, here we are. Been faffing about with these off and on through the day, but while there is an improvement. it is not as great as I would have liked. Especially on the civvies.

The civvies have been cleaned up, washed and drybrushed. These is improvement, but they look better in the... Um. Flesh? Lead? Bah, then in the picture...

These guys were put aside and painted up as an organized militia force. Like the core of a village defence force in T2K. Also, a bunch of head swaps and exchanging weapons made it look better. I like how the sniper on bottem left turned out. Unsure if he has a SIG or a H&K, but I guess it matters little. I gave him a Dragunov sight and a MAG bipod.

The SAS guys have been treated to a bit of drybrushing and the bareheaded team leder got a new haircolor, a Colt and a sling made from a strip of paper.

The SWAT team got green flak jackets, new washing and drybrushing. Turned out quite ok.

Now I'll try to fix up a couple of pickup trucks and other wheels for them. The 432's got put on he backburner due to rain and I can't be bothered to go outside to spray the basecoat... :)

Civvies and their herders

Now taking up recidence on the painting surface are these guys. All Ebay finds in various bunches, and all craving a bit of paintbrush love. They'll be used for a Zombie Survival campaign if they see use. I invested in the ATZ ruleset and I love it, so I hope I can find someone to play it with. :)
All these were from the same ebay seller, there were more then double the amount of civilians, but I sorted out those with all to obvious 30'ies clothing, weapons broken beyond repair and so on. There is also a platoon of early sexties US infantry with M14's and a couple of sailors...

These are various civilians, there are SCW, Soviet partisans, cold war SF and others in here. I'll just try to tidy them up a bit and use as character figures and survivor gangers in ATZ. The two frontmost guys have gotten a new head from the spares box and a new magazine from a blister pack, respectively.

This is very iranian embassy inspired SAS team. They be kept as is mainly, just another drybush for more effect.

This is a SWAT team I suppose. They'll be painted in a more appealing (to me at least) color scheme and again, tidied up a bit.

Ukrainians

GZG Stargrunt 25mm again. This time it is ESU Naval Infanry painted up to represent Ukrainian regulars. I love these figs, my painting really do not do them justice...

Enter the battle taxis

So, onto these guys. The center one is obviously the Ebay rescue. It is a metal model, I have no idea what make it is. The flankers are new S&S Models.

I don't think I'll try to strip the camo netting, if I can I'll keep it on.
The Challenger 1's from the same Ebay batch are also afflicted the same way, and they will tie together nicely if I can make it look ok. However, if I will need to strip it it'll be easy since it is a metal model. The plastic Challengers are another matter...

Brits, now improved!

Well, two hours or so of work later (I'm slow, ok?) they are very much improved at least. Still things to do but I'm happy nevertheless. :)

This one had no GPMG, but I have a bag of Nato weapons in a bit box that got to take pride of place up there. I have to find references on how to paint it correctly I suppose, since I only remember how our swedish ones look... I have to find a way to add a stowage rack behind the searchlight as well. Looks way to much peace time exercise as it is now.

Camo got very improved and tools etc were painted in. Looks alot better. Have to load on stowage and paint roadwheels and track still.

I think I'll leave stowage for later, and do all vehicles stowage at once when I figure out how to do it with reasonable results.

20mm Cold War british armour

I started out yesterday seeing if I could rescue a bunch of second hand 20mm british cold war kit. The Warrior was found in the trash at a friends apartment, he built it several years ago as a kid and saw no need to keep it around. One mans trash, another mans treasure I suppose. The Chieftain is built from a kit for me since my own stroke affected fingers do not work well with 1/72 kits... :)

Starting to repaint this after having fixed or replaced parts missing or fallen off.

This one has had a new layer of base paint, and I have started to black wash it.

The brit 20mm to do list is as follows:

3x Challenger 1's (Revell?)
1x Challenger engineer vehicle, a scratch build but since this is intended for T2K scenarios it'll do.
1x FV432 (Resin, needs new paint)
2x FV432 (Resin, new and unpainted from S&S)
3x Scimitars (Airfix)
2x Spartans (Converted from Airfix kits)

All of these were cheap Ebay finds.

And it does seem that I get much better pictures using my phone and a sheet of printer paper. Gonna consider this another learning experience.

AC-8

This is a GZG Gladiator hover tank painted as the french AC-8 from Aurore Sourcebook. While no longer made by GZG these are now available from Deamonscape in the UK or Eureka in Australia.

The AC-8 is a fairly obsolete but still serviceable AFV that is in widespread use. French colonial forces is probably the largest user, but many others use them as well.

And looking at this, it really needs highlights.

TFL

These are painted to represent either TFL mercs or Tanstaaflian Militia. Probably too well uniformed for militia though.

These turned out alot better than the french did. Much stronger contrasts with washes and drybrushing payed off and I have my fiancée to thank for telling me to try doing it that way.

And one of these days, I have to learn how to make decent bases...

The french shall lead the way!

Here are the first group of minis I (sortof) finished.
This is in many ways a learning experience as I have had these for many years but I have never painted in this scale. Also, I am not very good at panting 28mm either... :)

These figures are Stargrunt 25mm ESU troopers from Ground Zero Games painted in the colors of the French Foreign Legion as depicted in the 2300 Aurore Sourcebook. Well, pretty close anyhow.

And this pair is painted as Tanstaafl Rural Police with militarized weaponry, also from the same book.

Workbench Pic

Just a pic from the Man Cave. That is a seriously loaded workbench... And it is all mine.

The first post.

Right, here goes.

I'm starting this to try and keep some sort of record of what I'm doing and as sort of a motivator to keep going. The aim of this little thing is to reduce the mountain of lead I have accumulated since -93, but never ever worked much with. I suppose I am much more of a collector then a painter or gamer.

I have started with my GZG 25mm stuff, and some old kitbash stuff have been revamped. I'll post these over the nearest timeframe.

So, on we go. Let's see where this leads, shall we?
